Solar Panels

Solar Panels

Solar Panels

Background

Dicovered a site while surfing that looks to be headquartered in the States. Solar Power World has a homepage with basics. The Wikipedia page online has a great discussion about solar panels.

Tonight, 5 May 2019, I saw an online article at American Thinker describing some of the government incentives as well as tax-payer provided subsidies of up to 70% of the costs in providing large-scale solar power. Have not researched what this article calls a "racket" but will look into the information as time passes. Am noting the article in this post so that it does not get lost.

Use

Solar power is the term used when referring to using the sun's ability to produce energy. Kinetic energy is the focus of solar panels. We have developed ways to use sunlight to create heat (i.e.: to heat water) which could produce motion like a waterwheel but this conversion is not efficient. Solar panels are used to produce motion by converting light into DC power which is then converted into AC energy which powers our gadgets as well as produces electrical power.

Manufacture:

There are three types: (1) Monocrystalline and (2) polycrystalline alongside with thin- (3) film amorphous. The first two types are made from crystalline silicon. Apparently, the solar industry is disguising the silicon behind the word semiconductor. Film type is different technologically and much less efficient. They use a lot more roof space and work better than the first two types in poor weather (less than optimal sunlight). Poly type are the most efficient cell-type panels and are high end. Efficiency is rated in the amount of sunlight that is converted to energy. Mono type are less efficient as well as less expensive.

Lifespan

Haven't recorded a source, yet have picked up through reading that the lifespan of solar panels is roughly twenty-five years. And from reading I have learned that there is an ongoing effort to keep legacy solar power production at peak performance.

Disposal

Batteries: Sinovoltaics has a limited discussion of battery disposal. Sinovoltaics sounds Communist Chinese, so I will research further.

Solar Panels: The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has a FAQ pdf that outlines the hazards of solar panels themselves. Reuter's has an article about the first solar panel recycling plant opening at Rousset,France in Europe which is under the corporate umbrella of Veolia.

Solar Panels: The solarpowerworld site has an article that discusses U.S. solar panel recycling with an American company linked. Civic Solar Dot Com has an online article with some number crunching about U.S. recycling efforts.

U.S. Census - Citizenship Question

U.S. Census - Citizenship Question

U.S. Census - Citizenship Question

Something that has been in the news I have viewed on Alphabet's YouTube has been discussions about the U.S. Citizenship question included every ten years. Did some background and found some information I would like to post. The reason the citizenship question is asked is to determine the number of citizens in each Congressional District. This keeps representation fair. This information also helps protect non-citizens here legally as guests, (a.k.a. : law-abiding guests) and foreign infiltrators here in the United States illegally (a.k.a. : criminals) from casting a ballot.

To me, learning if the citizenship question was something new and un-tested was important. ABOVE: The screen shot from the U.S. Census information site illustrates the past inclusion of the citizenship question in our census data. Alongside helping to determine representation in our Congress and voting legitimacy Federal Funds, are apportioned according to the need of our citizens (education funding, infrastructure funding, and social welfare funding). Citizens have the right to receive their fair share, in my opinion.

IMPORTANT

Because of the census of citizens of the United States Of America, we can tabulate how many eligible citizens did not cast their ballot during the 2016 Presidential Election Cycle. Voting is one of the few responsibilities alongside obeying the law required.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doctrine?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doctrine?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doctrine?

Have been reading about the Green New Deal. About how this young lady speaks for "America's" future. I started the process to write her office tonight, 8 April 2019, and discovered that the only way to contact her office is by cell-telephone unless one resides in her district. Which leads me to cell telephones... are cell-phones impacting the environment? The batteries powering the telephones?

Just my quick two-cents. Downloaded HR116 - Resolution 109 and will go through it carefully (citing the evidence, mainly). One important thing I decided to examine was the epic victory of Representative Cortez. A Congressional District is apportioned 700,000 eligible citizens to cast ballots (because of wisdom of citizenship questions on the census we know this). The lady received ~17,000 votes according to Gotham Gazette. Truly epic!! There is a fine breakdown of the General Election in her District at Ballotpedia She received ~111,000 votes during the general election... destroying her opponents. What is interesting is that there are ~350,000 members of the D.N.C. in her 14th Congressional District of New York.

Am humbled by United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She has so many good ideas on how to force me to live by a set of standards put forth by her political handlers (have read a bit about this). Would like to see some proof in the pudding. Let her publish her beautician and cosmetic expenses. We ordinary deplorable Americans might want to see evidence of her commitments. Like abstaining from the use of cosmetics that are human collagen-based. Just passive exemplary behavior so she can be a role model. Molding young women to be concerned about the toxic waste generated during the manufacturing of cosmetics. Maybe stop using fossil-fuel extracts in her clothing and wardrobe which would mean elastic bands, straps, and buttons... most zippers.Alongside the use of aborted fetuses and donated human blood-plasma to make feminine make-up apply to the face smoothly, what about the toxic waste generated by poisonous cosmetics and the plastics going into landfills as toxic waste? Another thing, since I do not intend to stop eating beef, is her neglect of the topic about recycling cow-farts. When dealing with an issue (so to speak) one must discuss the topic with intelligence and thoroughly dissect said discussion.

Tonight, 5 May 2019, while surfing, I ran across some interesting information. Methane as a greenhouse gas has entered the discussion of global warming. The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is tasked with collecting temperature information and making inferences using the data collection. A scientific paper published by the NOAA is beginning to unravel the global warming theory and is worth noting when looking at Representative Cortez's own theories about global warming. Watts Up With That, a blog about this poor methodology by the NOAA is located here. Apparently, the temperature gathering sites were surrounded by asphalt and metals that got hot in the sun and skewed the data. Looking at this a bit closer, urbanization itself is contributing to global warming, alongside, many other factors including green house gas and cow farts.Am noting a PDF that is available online for my further research.

Mainstream Media and John Brennan

Mainstream Media and John Brennan

Mainstream Media and John Brennan

The "mainstream" media receives its moniker when authoring investigative journals about itself. My question, "What is "mainstream media?"

Another Question: What food am I going to include with this blog? Cannot Eat Words. Eat crow? Doesn't sound like a recipe for me.

Image: courtesy of maxpixel.net

For the longest time, I would say to myself mainstream media is MSM.N.B.C., a Comcast company, because of our collective discernment challenges. I would say to myself that the intellectually challenged deserved compassion, after all, we were born with the disabilities. Yet, mainstream is a major portion of our "sourced" and "investigated" information... the normal. After a quick index search using one of my many favorite browsers, I discovered for myself that our acronym is M.S.N.B.C., a Comcast company. Right about now, I am saying to myself, "This web log post is going to take time. I have other things to do. No immediate riches nor instant gratification. Bummer!! Then why am I here? This is not very mainstream. My little blog has absolutely no market share and no viewers. In addition, I cannot expect bucket-loads of cash. Am thinking (how "mainstream"), Because it's fun and I am sharing thoughts, will have to suffice.

"The Mueller Report was released to the Attorney General on Sunday, 24 March 2019. Today is Thursday, 28 March 2019. The fallout from the findings are starting to hit my e-mail newsletters." These thoughts have been running through my head all week and the aforementioned quote is the only record I could find in my notes of these thoughts.

Former head of the CIA during the Obama Administration, John Brennan referred to a sitting President of The United States as a traitor thus helping to undermine the President’s efforts in dealing with foreign governments, especially in the trade wars with China. Why not just wait and see if he’s impeached they probably thought. A former head of the nation’s chief intelligence service refers to the current President as a traitor and when the report finally arrived Mr. Brennan’s response was that he received incorrect information. That doesn’t reflect very well on the CIA’s ability to gather useful information does it? [The Castle Report]

Can we expect mea culpa? Either we deserve to have this expectation or, as I suspect, everything will stay status quo.

THANK YOU

As I was surfing around to compose this blog I ran across an American Thinker dot com article about accurate information and journalistic responsibility here. This article corroborates my thoughts almost to the yot and tittle (And I do not have time nor the desire to view television props). And the statements made by him... the guy used to be hard-wired into the NSA data base. As of today's post, am sure that television reports are all about the people saying how thankful they are to learn that a professional law enforcement investigation initiated by the DOJ found no wrong doing on the part of the President of the United States.

Have gone back to surfing and gathering more information to upgrade my conclusions about John O. Brennan. Found an 16 November 2008 article at salon.com summarizing the research of others, located here, about the reservations some people held concerning the choice of Mr. Brennan to lead the Obama C.I.A. His view on torture of criminals and kidnapping criminals for exhibit in friendly nations, for instance. The reason why things like this are a concern of mine is the example we set for others. Presently, the United States is dealing with a direct violation of the Monroe Doctrine by the Russian Federation inside Venezuela. There are presently Russian troops stationed internally. Yet, am looking at an example of international etiquette with our own deployment of troops inside Eastern Europe.

With regard to the Mueller report John Brennan was quoted inside Newsweek Magazine,"... he caveated that he did not know anything about the investigation." This leads me to question why it matters in the first place what Mr. Brennan has to voice about the obstruction of justice "treasonous acts." By the way the Mueller mandate was to investigate collusion with a foreign power to harm the United States, not obstruction of justice.

Don's Green Chile And Enchiladas

Don's Green Chile And Enchiladas

To Entice

Recipe and Method are included. This post is long and requires some study to prepare the enchiladas correctly (true to authenticity), so I have included an image of Don's "presentation." This plate full has just one tortilla which can be stacked to suit your tastes.

An image of Don presenting his prepared green chile enchiladas

Introduction

Green Chiles (as well as red chiles, I am sure) are a staple of authentic Mexican-American cooking. Chile peppers can be equated to ground black pepper being included with our European cuisine. Going back to Marco Polo and the Italians/Portuguese opening the East-West trade routes which in turn began the Enlightenment era in Europe... ground pepper has been one of the definitions alongside black powder. Here in the Americas peppers grow like weeds, so the quest for financial gain wasn't about peppers. Although (and this is a huge although) peppers define the cuisine aboriginal to the Americas. Green Chiles, specifically chiles grown in the vicinity of Hatch, New Mexico, U.S.A. As with most places settled in the Southwestern United States there are almost 400 years of recorded history we can recall. The altitude and soil surrounding Hatch is just right for her famous "Green" Chiles (am trying not to denigrate the other peppers grown at just the perfect altitude and soil make-up)

The map below illustrating the location was captured off of the Wikipedia article. Take some time to read the linked article because it is quite interesting.

Recipe

To me, this recipe could be a bit complex. Don put it together from memory with no problems. Preparation is divided into stages: green chile sauce prep, tortilla prep, and presentation prep. The recipe has to be prepared in this certain way in order to insure authenticity.

Cathy's Scampi Stir-fry With Veggies

Cathy's Scampi Stir-fry With Veggies

Introduction:

Catherine, this is her meal, works a full-time job plus hours in order to run her life the way she chooses. For this meal she has thawed one of her pre-purchased packages of meat (in this case Scampi) for the centerpiece of a quick, healthy delicious meal. As an integral member of a small team at work she needs healty substance to eat for energy and performance. Protein and veggies being a good choice. Alongside a nice drink and some "crusty" bread. Fast preparation time and quick clean-up being the essence and accents. Making healthy things to eat before work in a "snappy" fashion!!

Ingredients:

  • Small package of Scampi (washed, sorted, tamped dry)
  • Garlic (powdered garlic-to taste NOT garlic salt)
  • Chile (powder-to taste)
  • Parsley (ground-to taste)
  • Two to three tbsps. pure olive oil
  • One small can of corn (drained)
  • One small yellow bell pepper (diced)
  • One large ripe red pepper (diced)
  • One small zucchini squash (diced)
  • Some "crusty" bread (to taste)

As subjects inside these images are views of some of the tools necessary for the preparation of this quick meal. The cutting board, knife for dicing, spatula for stir-frying the scampi prawns. The cutlery and dishes goes without saying, hopefully. Use caution around hot oil and a hot stove and no one will get burned which also goes without saying.

Method:

  1. Wash, dry, and dice veggies before the stir-fry. Bowl and set out of the way for scampi prep.
  2. Inside a twelve-inch deep skillet, heat the olive oil until shimmering.
  3. Add the garlic, chile and parsley and cook over moderately high heat for ten seconds, stirring.
  4. Add the shrimp and cook over high heat, stirring once, for three to four minutes, until they are pink and curled.
  5. Season with salt and transfer to plate. Serve with crusty bread.

    Voila

Creamed Chipped Beef Over Potatoes

Creamed Chipped Beef Over Potatoes

Introduction:

Creamed Chipped Beef otherwise known as S.O.S. is one of the meals I prepared recently. Am exploring simple, easy, and inexpensive meals, lately. While preparing this main course I cooked and mixed slowly at a mild temperature to keep from scalding the milk gravy. Basically, creamed soups can be so much slop or well-prepared delicious soups. An important tool used to cook proper cream soups is a gravy shaker; mixing in a shaker prevents the flour from clumping into blobs, and the milk/flour is evenly mixed from the very beginning.

One of the problems I have noticed with milk soups is the skillet or pot getting too hot and burning the milk. Using the shaker allows me to closely monitor the temperature.

Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef - one pound of lean beef (depending on how many people are planning to eat this meal. )
  • Milk - almost two cups
  • Potatoes - four small russets (again, depending on how many will be eating)
  • Flour - for this batch of cream chipped beef, I ended up using just over three tablespoons
  • Spices - garlic powder (not garlic salt), black pepper, and table salt. all to taste
  • Water - add to the soup to keep it at a nice wet consistency. The flour causes the milk to really thinken

Method:

  1. Cook up the meat until done completely through. Remove the grease from the skillet containing the meat. After the meat is removed, drain any excess grease by using a paper towel under the meat. You should have a lightly oiled skillet with the meat "leavings" sitting on the bottom of the pan.I normally add a couple of tablespoons of milk to enable me to see what is occurring inside the skillet as it warms.
  2. I normally add about two tablespoons of milk to the skillet to enable me to visually monitor the temperature of the skillet. Then preparing the gravy shaker, I add two-three tablespoons of flour to about a cup of milk. Then, shake until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Add the cup (about a cup) of milk to the skillet and start scraping the meat leavings described in step #1 into the milk/flour mixture. The color of the milk will darken as the meat flavors the soup.I add the meat in small amounts to add flavor. While all of this is happening, keep stirring the soup as it thickens.

Sides and Conclusion

For this batch of soup I used a bed of boiled and mashed potatoes. The chipped beef soup also goes well on top of toasted bread. It tastes very nice with a couple of eggs cooked to suit your taste, and with a glass of juice.
